Work

Yes, that’s paul newman and I, fifty years ago in the studio, working on a documentary project.  I wrote it.  He narrated it.  He was kind and funny.  The story is in my book emissaries. Time has passed.  I continue to provide professional services, which are described on the “Work with dean” page.

“There’s nothing more dangerous than an idea, when it’s the only one you have.”

— Émile Chartier

As a licensed clinical psychologist, over the past 40 years, I have practiced therapy and have taught at the graduate level at New York University, University of New Mexico, and Webster University, and have served as president of the New Mexico Psychoanalytic Society.

I’ve also served as a consultant to national and international organizations and served on various non-profit boards in the areas of peace, social justice, human rights, and children’s well-being.

I am available:

  • to speak to your group of adults or adolescents on topics of psychological health and human development across the lifespan
  • to lead workshops, seminars, and in-service meetings for your youth groups, parent groups, or professional organizations
  • to present master classes to psychologists on personality theory and therapeutic technique
  • to deliver keynote addresses
  • to record, edit, and master commercial and narration voiceovers and audiobooks

“Dr. Rudoy gave a remarkable talk entitled ‘The Mythic Journey of the Adolescent’ at Trinity School, a private preparatory school in New York City.  His audience was 450 smart, engaged, intellectually aware 9th through 12th graders and 50 faculty members.  In a 45-minute presentation, involving myth, story-telling, participatory exercises, and lecture material, Dr. Rudoy managed to provide the students with a fresh and insightful look at their own inner lives.  The presentation was a hit.  His warmth, intelligence, and perspective were a compelling draw for the students.  Many of them still talk about his visit, and teachers have brought his insights into the classroom.”

— Margery Mandell

Dean of Co-curricular Learning, Trinity School, New York City

“I was very impressed by Dr. Rudoy’s teaching. Many questions arose spontaneously and he responded in ways that stimulated rather than closed off discussion.  What I saw was a lively interchange around important ideas. … Dr. Rudoy has obvious technical competence and extensive knowledge of the material he was presenting. … he was able to capture and engage student participation.  … an attitude of professionalism and ethical commitment that deserves notice.  … It is my conclusion that Dr. Rudoy is a gifted teacher.  I give him my highest recommendation and feel that we should use his services in as many ways as he is willing to give.  Our program is enriched by his participation.”

SEVERAL OF DEAN’S PROJECTS OVER THE YEARS

Fifty years ago, in 1970, in honor of John and Robert Kennedy, I created The Kennedy Lectureship at The Johns Hopkins University, for which Senator Edward Kennedy delivered the inaugural address. Over the years, we remained in touch on various projects.

Ethel Kennedy and I have worked together over many decades on behalf of The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

In 2002, Patrick Kennedy and I met up at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, to discuss some ideas I had developed for his Congressional campaign.

Robert Redford and I collaborated on a project for The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, as well as a couple of political campaigns for our friend Tom Udall.

Leonard Whiting – who played Romeo in Franco Zeffirelli’s film Romeo and Juliet – and I have collaborated on several projects, including Romeo in the Desert, master classes in Shakespearean acting, and a gallery presentation of Leonard’s oil paintings.

In 2019, I produced a workshop of Ellie Devers’ one-woman show (right), directed by Tony award-winning theatre artist Judith Ivey (center).
